About this print
A striking companion for a quieter corner. This black cockatoo illustration captures the bird's alert presence through a raised crest, layered feathers and a sharply attentive yellow eye. The close view invites you to linger over the plumage, giving a familiar Australian subject an intimate, expressive quality.
The restrained background makes the dark plumage the main event. Each feather contributes to the outline, so the bird feels sculptural as well as carefully observed. The contrast between the soft, repeated feather shapes and the solid beak gives the image much of its character.
